Mitch Hedberg was a stand-up comedian known for his subdued delivery. Mitch’s odd subject matter, and memorable routines  often consisted of a string of one-line observations. With most comics you knew where their jokes are headed. But with Mitch, you had no idea. So with the anniversary of his death coming up, I thought I would give you guys some of my favorite Mitch Quotes:

“I got an ant farm… them ‘fellas didn’t grow shit.”

“Here’s a thought for sweat shop owners: Air Conditioning.”

“Is a hippopotamus a hippopotamus or just a really cool opotamous?”

“Remember that show ‘My Three Sons’? It’d be funny if it was called ‘My One Dad’… wait, what?”

“I saw a commercial on late night TV, it said,”Forget everything you know about slipcovers.” So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn’t know what the hell they were.”

“I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale.”

And they’re hungry. That’s a double whammy. Bush, search party of three, you can eat when you find the Dufranes.”

Everyone has their own definition of what a tattoo means to them. Some people put little meaning behind it while for others it may mean the world. I personally look at tattoos as merely a form of art and expression. My tattoo has some meaningful items within it’s artwork, but as a whole it is just that, art. Art that I feel looks beautiful and that I can look at and enjoy!

There are some parts of my tattoo that are very meaningful to me. There is a paint brush, which represents my true passion for art. There is a Gemini symbol, which represents a long-lasting friendship with my best friend. Finally, there is a coy, which represents my love for my father. Not only is he a fisherman who loves his fish, but it also reminds me of the time we went to Florida together. I was only 5 and it was the first time I had seen a coy fish, which I recall telling my father it was a very large goldfish. Needless to say, my tattoo is one of my favorite things about me.

It is an addiction. The process of the pain is a way to relieve any real life pain that I may have bottled inside of me. This fine piece of artwork was created by Chris Winn at La Jolla Tattoo in Pacific Beach.

We’ve gotten off our lazy asses and started what we’ve been putting off for almost two weeks. Some of you may be asking what’s the deal with ‘A Toast to These’? It’s about all things that are awesome and deserve a toast. From music, to food. From places to eat, to the movie we saw this afternoon.

More often then not, these will be posts of the not so recent. The lost items that we may have overlooked or missed. Or simply the items that may never have gotten their due. We will be saying a toast to these items!

This brings us to the first item that we would like to Toast.

This image was sent to me by a very good friend of mine probably 4-5 years ago. What I like most about it, is what it represents. At a glance you can see it’s about how music is this persons passions, and life. But I think it goes further then that. It’s not just about music. It’s not just about one person. It’s about what drives each and every one of us. We should all be able to look at this image, and see in our selves what motivates and drives us, what our passions are. For that I give a toast, for things that make us go. Shall they always be there, pushing us along.
