Let’s raise our glasses to this place!

I have to say that downtown San Diego has some of the best bars, lounges, restaurants, nightclubs, and much more than any city can offer. One of my favorite spots is the Neighborhood, which is located at 777 G Street. I love this place not only for the amazing food and beer selection, but also for the atmosphere. This place is always buzzing and the genius behind the amazingness is at it again.

His new creation is called Craft and Commerce, which is located at 675 W Beech Street in Little Italy. This place also was a very unique atmosphere and a nice dark pub like décor. The bartenders have an old newsy feel to them and are not bad on the eyes either ladies. This place had only been open a week and it was packed when we got there, so we put our name on chalk board and headed over to the bar. They have a unique menu selection of both food and drinks. They have some interesting and yummy beers, but I had to try one of their homemade champagne cocktails. I have to say it was very tasty and had several different types of alcohol in it.

Once we got seated, we shared their awesome sweet potato fries then my fiancé had their burger, which I tried also and it was very delicious. I had one of their salads and it was also delicious. I have to say it is a great place to go hangout with some friends or even for a date. I definitely plan on going their again very soon and you should check it out too!!

The first lap went very quickly, but then i hit another wall that seemed so high that it blocked the sun. I had never experienced cramps, and for the next three laps I had to deal with my left and right legs alternating in which one wanted to cramp up. There were times when I asked my self why am I doing this. I could be at home just drinking a beer and being like everyone else. Take the easy road out, so many other people do. But with out answer I kept pushing along. Once the fifth lap hit, I was cramp free and posted my best speed of 33 kmh for the lap.

I have to say that I surprised my self, and I now look forward to next weekend to do it all over again. It’s going to get easier, and I’m going to become better. But if everything was as easy as sitting on the couch and watching TV, how would I grow as a person? How would I build strength in my values? How can I separate my self from everyone else?

I saw this commercial for the first time tonight. I couldn’t stop laughing. Anyone that has seen the antics of LeBron off court knows that this is just like him. And we all know how relaxed Kobe is on and off the court. This is comercial gold. Now, if only Cleveland and Los Angeles could meet in the finals…

Recently I was given a MacBook Air that had been dropped. Needless to say it was in pretty bad shape.

The screen bezel was no only bent, but both hinges that were used to keep the screen attached to the base were broken. So now you know why it wa given to me.

So, now being in this situation where, if I can fix I can keep it. So first I looked into getting it profesionally fixed. Bad idea. Most companies that can, and there arent many, wanted 600-1000 bucks for the repair. So yeah, not really going to drop my coin for that. I honestly still had no idea how well this thing would even work.

So I went to plane B. I’ll just buy the hinges, and do the install my self. That didnt turn out to be very cost effective. First, I couldnt find hinges alone. Everyone sold the hinges attached as a part of the LCD assembly, not seperate. So the parts alone put it up to 500-600 bucks. Still more then what I could afford to pay.

Now for plan C. Ace Hardware. Yeah thats right. Ace Hardware. Ended up buying some small cabinet door hinges, this crazy elmers glue for metal stuff, and two c-clamps. Cost = $20.

Tools: pair of pliers to bend the bezel back into place. And the C-clamps for holding parts in place as the glue dried.

What I did:
1. Bend the bezel and set it properly on the LCD screen. Once I was happy with it, I laid in some glue and clamped it down. Let it sit for about 2 hours then you can move on to the next part.
2. Find the proper placement for the hinges. I decided to put them on the top left and right corners. Seemed to be the most logical. Marked the spots, applied the glue, and let them set with the c-clamps holding them in place for about 3 hours. I side note: Make sure to keep checking on the glue. As it dry’s it tends to expand so you will want to wipe off the excess glue before it hardens.
3. Once the base hinges are set and good to go, then it’s time for the screen. Open the hinges and attach the screen to them using the c-clamps. No glue yet. This way you can adjust the placement. Once you have the screen sitting where you want, then do one side at a time. Keep in mind that you don’t want the clamp on to tight as it could cause problems with the display. Apply the glue, and let it sit over night. This should ensure that all parts dry before you start using it.

Now all I needed was a power cord. Up until now, I wasnt sure how well this machine worked. All I was told was that it still turned on. For the cord went straight to the apple store, and bought it. $80.

Turned the Franken’Lappy on, and it works great! I have to say for 100 buck, one of the best computers i’ve ever owned for the price

Everyone has their own impression of who they think Pink is. The thing that I like most about her is she isn’t your typical pop princess. Her music comes in many forms whether it’s to speak her mind or to tell you how she feels or even just to have some fun. Songs like “Stupid Girls” or “Don’t Let Me Get Me” tell you just how she feels about the other pop singers out there. Call it a bit rebellious either way it’s totally hot! Then there are songs that make you want to just have fun like “Get the Party Started.” For me, my favorite part of her music is the emotional songs. She lets it all out there and these songs have gotten me through some tough times. Some of these songs include, “Just like a Pill,” “You Make Me Sick,” “Misery,” “Who Knew,” and her newest song, “Sober.” I can really relate to a lot of these songs. No one can deny her stardom because from start to now she has made hit after hit. And, I don’t see her slowing down anytime soon. Plus, I have personally seen her live and her voice is absolutely amazing. She is not one of those singers that only sound good on the radio. I just want to say I love you Pink & your music!!

This made me smile. And not cause it involves a little kids show.

This episode of Sesame Street is being aired in Nov of this year. Meaning that this is well after this round of the NBA playoffs, and after the start of next season. So what makes me smile is that Kobe is still wearing a Lakers jersey. Yeah I know in all fairness this means nothing, but from the guy that put me through the drama of wanting to be traded a few summers ago, anything can be a healthy sign.

Those Dancing Days: Those Dancing Days

Those dancing days are an awesome, indie pop, all girl band, from Sweden. The track, Those Dancing Days is by far my favorite track by them, and waranted a quick little post for it’s fun sound, and poppy lyrics. All I can say is that I can’t stop playing this track, and seeing the lead singers big hair always puts a smile on face.

“One of the biggest wake-up calls of my career was when I saw a record contract. I said, ‘Wait – you sell it for $18.98 and I make 80 cents? And I have to pay you back the money you lent me to make it and then you own it? Who the f**k made that rule? Oh! The record labels made it because artists are dumb and they’ll sign anything’ – like I did. When we found out we’d been released (from their recording contract) it was like, ‘Thank God!’. But 20 minutes later it was, ‘Uh-oh, now what are we going to do?’ It was incredibly liberating, and it was terrifying.”

I couldn’t agree more with Trent Reznor. This day and age we have so many tools at our disposal that it pays to make music the good old DIY way. The other thing this will do is separate “Good Music” from the crap. In the past it was discouraging starting out as a musician. But now the tables have been turned. So much so, I have not only played in bands, but have now started working on music soundtracks. And trust me, if I can figure this stuff out on my own, so can the average Joe.
