This Saturday I started my training, running 4 miles then Biking 20 miles. I have been riding for a while, but the running was all brand new to me. I started out too fast, and though my first two miles were very solid, I felt as though I had hit a wall. My legs started feeling week, though the rest of me was doing great. I trucked on, though slow, telling my self that I can not stop, and that it can only get better from here. I cant loose my momentum or give up on my self. After the run and a couple minute rest. I jumped on the bike and started my 20 mile ride.

The first lap went very quickly, but then i hit another wall that seemed so high that it blocked the sun. I had never experienced cramps, and for the next three laps I had to deal with my left and right legs alternating in which one wanted to cramp up. There were times when I asked my self why am I doing this. I could be at home just drinking a beer and being like everyone else. Take the easy road out, so many other people do. But with out answer I kept pushing along. Once the fifth lap hit, I was cramp free and posted my best speed of 33 kmh for the lap.

I have to say that I surprised my self, and I now look forward to next weekend to do it all over again. It’s going to get easier, and I’m going to become better. But if everything was as easy as sitting on the couch and watching TV, how would I grow as a person? How would I build strength in my values? How can I separate my self from everyone else?
